Well, while my Zpoxy is drying on my test guitar, I decided to try the FP
on a
Granidillo board I had lying around. I went ahead without pore filling just
to
give it a try.

Thanks Robbie, Michael P, Paul, JJ, J, Tony, PeterM, PeterJ et al. for all of
your help.
For a 1st try, it looks pretty good. Only took me about an hour using
Robbies technique. I polish off at the end with Novus 2. I have noticed
that
the surface is not perfectly flat.
Should I spirit off a bit more to level or do you all sand a bit more
between
coats. Robbie suggests 1200grit every 2-5 sessions on his video.

Andy...Looks pretty good for only an hour. I would question whether there are enough build coats, however. What concentration of shellac did you use for the bodying sessions? I did about 20 bodying sessions on the B&S and 10 on the top. After each 3rd session, I spirited off and let set for a few hours before proceeding. Once completed, I then went through a few glazing sessions. I used a 2# cut for bodying and 1# cut for glazing.

Practice is great to hone your technique for when you go live. The nice thing about the FP process is that you can easily corrrect mistakes.

I'm sure Michael will have more valid comments.

Well, I guess my technique is a bit different.
I used a 1# cut per Robbies video.
I applied about 12 build coats. Robbie recommends sanding at 1200 after
every 2-5 coats. I then spirited off. There really isn't a glazing step.

Dos the glazing level the finish???
Robbies video has the spiriting step to level and remove the oil

That's probably the difference...plus the use of 1200 grit leveling. I "basically" followed the Milburn tutorial with Michael answering my in-process questions. I'm sure Robbie's method is solid. I like the idea of leveling with 1200 grit.

Looks great Andy. It appears that you've picked up the technique quickly and I'm impressed with the appearance of the test board.

I'm with JJ.... use 1200 to level every so often and that will highlight your high/low or any problem areas.

It's good that we have this forum to share our helpful hints.
